Aleksandra Peeva is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the MacroFinance & MacroHistory Lab and a Kiel Institute Fellow.
Her research focuses on the the instrumentalization of economics for political goals. Some of her research is dedicated to studying the (unintended) effects of sanctions, such as sanctions evaders, shifts in currency preferences in international trade amidst sanctions, and the implications for technological competition, spheres of influence, and technological regression within a polarized international community shadowed by sanctions.
